Active School Flag

Active School Flag

Here at Donard N.S., we have worked very hard to receive our 'Active Schools Flag'. An Active school is a school that "strives to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community". This is a non-competitive initiative highlighting the importance of physical activity and sport in schools and communities in which they are based. The programme encourages all schools to evaluate their current provision of P.E. and extracurricular sports to children and to examine whether they can be improved upon. It is our overall aim to provide a wide and varied physical health programme for the children of Donard N.S. We want to raise awareness about the importance of enjoyment, play and keeping fit and the Active Flag initiative helps us to do this. In June 2016 we were accredited with our first 'Active Schools Flag' for the huge improvements and efforts we made to be a more active school. Thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents who continue to help us in being an active school! Visit activeschoolflag.ie to find out more.

We have set up an Active School Committee made up of pupils, staff, parents and community representatives who are responsible for promoting physical education and for organising our annual Active School Week. Well done to the following pupils who were chosen to represent their classes this year;

Matilda Ayton – 4th class
Ronan Metcalfe – 4th class
Harry Hussey – 5th class
Faye Corrigan – 6th class
